What is it about Valentine’s Day that ties us all up in knots?
Most of the people that I’ve talked to are either blissful or miserable come February 14th, and there’s seldom any middle ground. For every person who goes the jewelry/pink cupcake/roses route, I’ll inevitably hear from someone who prefers to spend the day with friends and horror movies, shots of whiskey over glasses of wine. As a culture, we have a love/hate relationship with St. Valentine, but it’s passionate either way.
This month we bring you the very essence of that relationship – a sharp juxtaposition of the two most inspiring emotions on which our favorite songs depend. Like it or not, love and hate are not just fodder for boy bands and emo kids, they’re driving forces behind some of the most powerful music out there. Listen to any one of the bands that we chose to feature this month and you’ll find it, even if the only love you hear is the artist’s love for their music. Above all, that’s the undercurrent here at Chordstruck – the absolute and undying love of the music.
As always, thanks to everyone who helped make this month happen; without the support of each of you, we would be stuck back at square one with an idea and hope for some way to pull it off.
We’re proud to give you our sophomore issue and hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed putting it together.
Cheers,
Sierra Christman Co-Editor in Chief
